A Special Date~August 3!

August 3 is a special date in our family for two main reasons:

Eleven years ago today, my husband became a Christian. After months of God speaking to him, he surrendered his heart and his life to Christ. In doing so, he became a changed man. You see I knew him before he met Christ and I know him after. The change is like night versus day. The man who drank alcohol daily, experimented with drugs and lived only to please himself became the man committed to Christ and His purposes. He never took another drink or another drug and has given himself fully to a life of knowing God more! How thankful I am!

One year ago today on August 3, 2007, God rocked our boat of contentment. Early in June, Keith applied to bible school. All summer nothing was happening. His references and transcripts got lost in the mail. We tried to get people to fix a problem in our house so that we could put it on the market, but no one was available to help. The door seemed closed and on July 31, we looked at each other and said "This is not going to happen. Lord, we give it to You. We still believe but we cannot make this happen. We are not going to strive anymore."

Four days later-on August 3, 2007-a man walked up to my husband at work and said "I heard that you live in this certain neighborhood. My son is looking to buy a house there. Do you know of any nice homes for sale?" After my husband picked his jaw up off of the floor, he invited the man to come and look at our house. And they made an offer before they even walked into the front door to buy the house 'as is'. They offered the price we were asking and we did not have to do a thing but move out!

The school called us the next day. Guess what they received in the mail six weeks late, all on the same day? Three reference forms and a set of school transcripts!

Let this day be marked in our history as the day that God started us on an incredible journey that has changed our marriage and our family. He is good!

What a great story! It is amazing to look back on times when God has made Himself so real!
